Alertness!

The times I most have trouble obeying the speed limit law are when my mind wanders to thoughts other than the way ahead & watchfulness for the law. It is the same with my Christianity. When the mind strays to worldly issues, I often fall into the trap of exceeding the limits of Christ's teachings.

Even when you are concentrating on driving the speed limit, it is hard to keep from fudging on the legal speed, especially when others around you seem to leave you behind. But if you are paying attention it is easy to correct the error. Of course, even someone who is dedicated to living like Christ will falter, but if he is attentive he can correct the error easily through repentance and prayer.

There are rewards for doing right. When I come over a hill at the legal speed and see a policeman, I know I do not have to worry. It is the same with living the Christian life; you do not have to worry about what will happen when you see the Lord coming.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
