The Batting Cage Adventure

We indeed went to the batting cages for the first time this afternoon. The older of the grandsons, eight, will begin playing in a league in a few days. He took three turns and consistently improved his contact with the ball. He will do fine with the other boys, I think. The younger of the boys, 7, took two turns. He kept creeping in toward the plate with each swing, until he was hit by a pitch on the upper arm. He was happy not to take another turn.

Batting Cages

My grandson has signed up to play baseball in a league at the local YMCA. The age group will be playing machine pitch baseball. My grandson has only played coach pitch thus far, and has never seen machine pitched balls. Today we are going to a batting cage to let him get a feel before he goes to his first practice.

Cubs Gear in Houston

I live in Houston and am an Astros fan. But when I go to a game against the Chicago Cubs at Minute Maid Park, it is not uncommon to find an awful lot of fans dressed in caps, tee shirts jerseys and other Cubs gear. I have wondered where they get all that stuff. Until today. That is when I learned about Cub World.com, which is about to celebrate its eighth anniversary of opening. They not only provide all the Cubs fans with a Wrigley Field atmosphere on the web, they also offer a wide range of Chicago Cubs apparel, much of which will no doubt show up at Minute Maid Park!
