Dreams?

This post is part of the GBE writing group that Alicia has created. All are welcome to participate! This week’s assigned topic is DREAMS. ********************************************************************************************* When I hear the word dreams is the topic of the Great Blogging Experience I have a real dichotomy of thoughts. First, I seldom recall a dream. I have read that everyone dreams, and I know that at times I do because I wake up with a recollection of some vivid scene I have conjured up in a dream. For the most part I don’t think about them at all and almost never am troubled in my conscious life by the things that go on in my subconscious thoughts.

But I also am a man who believes in dreaming about success or accomplishment. I do not want to settle for mediocrity. When I was a young man I heard a man say in a speech that if you don’t have a dream you are dead. I took that to heart. I have always tried to keep some goals in the forefront of my mind. I want to always be moving forward toward those goals. Not all of them work out as I expect, but dreams are a spark to living a positive life.

At about 32 I went to Dominica for the first time. I fell in love with the place and the people. On my third trip my wife went with me for the first time. At the end of our time there, she said, “We should retire here.” It became a stated dream of ours. We worked for years with that as the carrot dangling in front of us. Due to a turn of events in family and our need to raise two little boys, it appears that we will live out our days with the U. S. as our primary place of residence.

Our dreams today are, in part, focused on two little boys with a difficult beginning becoming men of substance and stability.

Home Security Blog

For the past two years I have been into the world of blogging. I have written many entries. Some are meaningful and make me proud. Others are benign and are not really very beneficial to anyone but me. I have also read a lot of blog entries. But I recently found a home security blog that I believe needs to be read by all home owners.

The Home Security Blog is filled with tips and information that can at least be beneficial and at its best be life and lifestyle saving. Our day and age is filled with threats to our personal and Identity security, so it behooves all of us to take steps to learn and apply information that protects ourselves and our way of life.

Writing Down

I have been blogging on Writingup.com for more than a year. I have enjoyed it immensley, and made some good virtual friends in that blog community. The site has had all sorts of difficulties in the past few weeks, causing a migration away from the site by a number of the writers. One of them, known as Keywoman 1, has begun a new group on Myspace to try to recapture the magic of our community. It is called WritingDown! Here is a link to check it out. WritingDown
