Pressure on Hillary

The Obama train picked up steam today! The Illinois senator won all three primaries, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He will likely take a slim lead in commited delagates over Senator Clinton. These developments will no doubt stress the Clinton campaign. She is in need of a big win, and Texas may be the linchpin in her candidacy.

Romney Out

Mitt Romney dropped out of the presidential race today. He told the attendees of the C-Pac meeting today that it was in the best interest of the party to come together behind the now certain nominee, John McCain, in order to focus on the fall and the race against the nominee from the Democratic party. It will allow more funds and energy be aimed at defeating, Hillary/Obama. It also made Romney more appealing in the future. My guess is he will be the next nominee from the Republican party.

McCain!

John McCain is picking up steam in his journey to the Republican nomination for the presidency. He won several of the big states in the primaries on Super Tuesday. He has opened a sizeable gap in the number of votes he has received overall, but more importantly he has made a big stride in the number of delagates he has won. His 704 delegates is more than half of those that have been contested thus far and much more than half those needed to win the nomination.

Tuesday, Tuesday!

No not a new song fromt he Mamas and the Papas. It is about Super Tuesday and the presidential primaries. Twenty two states will be casting ballots all on one day, Tuesday, February 5. I know a lot of people think the nominees will be decided on Super Tuesday, but I think it may take a bit longer. Especially on the Democratic side. That is because they have so many states that are not winner take all in the delegate race, including California.

Rudy Backs McCain

Rudy Giuliani was knocked from the race for the Republican nomination for the presidency. His plan to wait till Florida did not work. His one time national lead was erased by the success of others in earlier primaries. Today he made a speech to announce that he will support Senator John McCain in his bid for the nomination. I wonder if Romney can now catch the Arizona senator.

McCain in Florida!

I was a bit surprised the Senator John McCain won the Republican primary in Florida tonight. I wondered if his positoin on the immigration policies would play well enough to win in a state that is full of immigrants. McCain now has the 57 delegates from the Sunshine State and he will raise some more money as he heads into Super Tuesday.
