Today In Services

We had a nice day in our worship services today. We had a lesson taken from Mark 9 that dealt with the need to be at peace with one another. As disciples of Christ, if we want to make a positive impact on the world around us, it is imperative that we deal with one another in peace.

Then tonight, after a study in Colossians 1:15-19, one of our young men was baptized into Christ. Good Day!

Celebrating Christmas

Does the church you attend focus on the birth of Christ on December 25th? I suppose most do, but the congregation where I worship does not. There is no evidence that the early Christians made the birth of Jesus a special event to celebrate. If they had they would likely have celebrated it in March or April, when Jesus was more likely born. Our focus is upon the death and resurrection of Christ as the event that is to be celebrated. And we do that every week, year round.

Sunday

We had a good day at services today. The worship time was well attended and there was lots of life in the singing. The sermons was crisp and made a good point. We had a family new to town place membership with us, wanting to be a part of the life and work of the congregation. Tonight we had one respond to the invitation, asking for prayers and to be restored. It was a productive and encouraging Sunday.
